Academy Museum of Motion Pictures
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is the largest museum in the United States devoted to the arts, sciences, and artists of moviemaking.

American Association of State and Local History (AASLH)
The American Association for State and Local History is a national membership association dedicated to helping the history community thrive. AASLH provides leadership and resources to its members.

Art Deco Society LA
Promotes interest in learning about and preserving art deco architecture in and around Los Angeles.

California Museum
California State Archives contains directory of Cultural Heritage Resources On-line in Southern California.

Culver City Historical Society
CCHS has a museum and resource center focusing on history of Culver City and overlapping Venice history.

Hollywood Heritage Museum
Primary focus is on the history of Hollywood with extensive archives including information on films and events in Venice.

LA Conservancy
Major conservancy group that actively works on preserving historic buildings and neighborhoods A great source of legal information on preservation.

Los Angeles Public Library
The Central library has a wonderful archive of books, magazines, photographs, newspapers, etc. that includes material on Venice going back to its founding. Local branches have their own archival materials such as Venice and Mar Vista. Lectures and events sometimes feature Venice and surrounding areas.

National Preservation Institute
Focus is on continuing education for preservationists and has networking links to entities throughout the US. Good resource.

National Trust for Historic Preservation
Information about preservation efforts throughout the US and information about grants and research.

Pasadena Heritage Museum
Abbot Kinney and his first wife lived in Sierra Madre and were involved in nineteenth and early twentieth century Pasadena history.

Santa Monica Conservancy
Advocates for community engagement to preserve buildings and has talks about various aspects of the complex history of the city and surrounding area including Ocean Park and Venice.

Santa Monica History Museum
Museum is an archival/resource center with in-depth exhibitions plus information on Venice and Ocean Park.

Venice Canal Association
Information about the history of the historic Venice canals system throughout the decades.

West Adams Heritage Association
This large organization is an excellent resource for information about preservation efforts including preserving entire neighborhoods.

Westchester Playa Del Rey Historical Society
Covers history of Westchester, Playa del Rey and Playa Vista with some information about Venice and Marina del Rey.
